2012-05-25 GiraffPlus Progress Meeting in Rome

32 project participants met in Rome on May 3-4 for the first Progress Meeting. Host of the meeting was the Institute of Cognitive Science and Technology (CNR-ISTC).

The objectives of the meeting were
- to reach a collective agreement on the user requirement list,
- to sketch an agreed version of the GiraffPlus architecture,
- to consolidate a solution to the sensors integration problem, and
- to have an initial idea and plan for the first year demo.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached on the user requirement list resulting on a few minor changes needed in Deliverable 1.1 before its final submission to the EC. It was also decided that a table of sensors fulfilling the user requirements would be added in Deliverable 1.2 before submission to the EC. The importance of data security and privacy issues was discussed and they need to be accounted for in the architecture of the GiraffPlus system. The meeting ended with some open points needed to be resolved before agreeing on the architecure and how to integrate the sensors from Tunstall and IntelliCare. These issues will be solved during physical and virtual meetings in the near future. The initial idea and plan for the first year demo as presented in the Description of Work need to be refined, this will be the subject during a forthcoming meeting in July in Pisa, Italy.

Overall, it was a productive meeting giving good guidance for the upcoming deliverable on the GiraffPlus architecture. The next Progress Meeting will be held at Örebro University, Sweden in November.
