2014-08-27 GiraffPlus in Wall Street Daily

The GiraffPlus system is described in an article in Wall Street Daily on August 20th, titled "The Savvy Robot That’s Half-Carer, Half-Friend". In a video linked to the article (originally published by Reuters), the Italian test person Nonna Lea Ralli talks about the benefits of using the system: "- It keeps me company and makes me feel calm". The technical manager Gabriella Cortellessa is also interviewed in the video. She emphasizes the great importance of the sensor data collection made by the GiraffPlus system. The data gives a carer the opportunity to study the movements and the physical condition of a person over time. These details are interpreted through artificial intelligence and gives an indication of the health condition and the routines of the elderly person. In this way, the system facilitates early detection of health issues.
