2014-03-25 Article about Swedish Test Site in Örebro University Magazine

The research of the GiraffPlus project is presented in an article entitled "Smart Robots in Ordinary Homes", in the Örebro University Magazine No.1 2014. In the article the GiraffPlus system and how it can be used by elderly persons to maintain an independent living is described. One of the Swedish elderly primary users who are testing the system has been interviewed. The test person, Uno, is very positive to the system and he is especially fond of the Giraff robot, that he calls Axel. The robot makes it possible for his children and grandchildren to make virtual visits. They are enjoying the use of the robot, says Uno, and therefore they get in touch often.

Anette Forsberg, Amy Loutfi and Antonio Damasceno, who are also interviewed, mention that the test people’s use experience is of great importance for the development of the system. It is pointed out in the article that it is the long-term evaluation and the interaction with the users that make the project unique.
