2012-04-03 Concertation Meeting: EU funded ICT projects (FP7, AAL, CIP) on fall detection/prevention for elderly persons.


Andrea Orlandini (ISTC-CNR) attended the meeting representing the GiraffPlus project. He presented the project providing an overall picture of GiraffPlus and presenting both the work done and some initial results related to the User Requirements Analysis (WP1) activity. In particular, Andrea presented the consortium, the general objectives and the expected impact of the project. Then, he introduced the user requirements methodology (i.e., focus groups, usefulness and acceptance assessment, etc.).



Andrea was involved in a plenary discussion on (i) validation methodologies, (ii) output, outcome and impact indicators and (iii) future coordinated actions related to falls detection/prevention. Other attendees provided good feedbacks raising some interesting issues that will be exploited in order to enhance the future activities of the project.



In addition to the GiraffPlus project, 15 FP7/AAL and CIP projects have been invited: Wiisel, Farseeing, iStoppFalls, Usefil, Fate, Confidence, SoftCare, I Don’t Fall, Smiling, Care, Rosetta, Fate, Caalyx MV, FallWatch, Biotelekinesy.



The day after, Andrea also attended the “European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. From Plan to Action.” conference organized by the European Commission. During the event, general issues related to active ageing and technology exploitation have been discussed.
